About

After a very successful year, Marketing Society need a new committee to lead us in 2024/25. If you are a hard-working, motivated UoB student who has strong leadership skills and work well in a team, nominate yourself for a position! You don't need any previous experience in marketing and you must be a member of MarkSoc to nominate yourself and vote. You nominate yourself via our page on the Guild between 22nd-24th April and you should write a manifesto and add a picture of yourself. We have these positions open: President - organise and chair regular committee meetings and delegate tasks. Overlook finances and liaise with Publicity Officers to manage social media pages. Manage external relationships with industry, alumni, and sponsors. Vice President - Work closely with the President across all projects, filling in for them when needed. Liaise with all committee members to ensure the smooth running of the society. Maintain and update page for society’s activities on the Guild’s website. Secretary - Maintain accurate records of society meetings and activities. Assist in coordinating events and communication with members. Answer all enquiries about the society via email and social media. Support the President to create and schedule events. Ensure efficient organisation and operation of the society. Treasurer - Manage the society's finances and budget effectively. Keep accurate records of income, expenses, and financial transactions. Provide financial updates to the committee. Coordinate fundraising efforts and seek sponsorship opportunities. Ensure compliance with university financial policies and regulations. Publicity Officer x2 - Design and publish content for social media channels. Set up stand for Fresher’s Fair, publicise events and manage social media. Liaise with Careers Network for marketing events. Events Officer - Organise and book rooms for events and AGM. Liaise with Publicity Officers to set up stand for Fresher’s Fair. Submit risk assessments for events. Manage event logistics, including registration, catering, and on-site coordination.

Our society was founded in 2018 and saved in 2023 with the aim to provide students with an accessible and welcoming space to learn more about everything marketing-related. We offer a range of events and workshops to get an insight in this industry, develop skills and access opportunities. Don't forget the socials too, where you can meet like-minded students and have fun! Our society is open to everyone who wishes to explore the world of marketing, advertising and PR.
