About

Elisabeth Bowes is currently posted to the UK as Australia’s Deputy High Commissioner. We are collaborating with Diplomacy Society and are pleased to welcome her to discuss her experience in multilateralism, trade and the conflict associated with these deals and processes. Bowes’ experience ranges from her roles in the World Trade Organisation, the Tribunal of the Law of the Sea, and her work in Australia’s Department for Foreign Affairs and Trade, leading significant deals in a series of geopolitical issues. Join us on 14th March, 6:15-8:00pm to hear more about Bowes’ experiences, and to have a glass of Australian wine. This will be a talk and Q&A session, followed by drinks with Australian wine from the High Commission. Come along!

About

Known as one of the most prestigious GeogSocs in the country, UCL’s Geographical Society was established over a hundred years ago. Every year our society has a full calendar of events and activities which aim to enrich your studies, social life and career prospects. From speaker events to debates to career panels, themed socials, mixers and field trips, this year we’re back and bigger than ever! We’ve got lots of exciting collaborations with other societies and universities planned, including of course our annual Winter and Summer Balls. We cover all things Geography, from exploring the latest scientific research to putting a geographical spin on current issues. This year we want the themes and topics we cover as a Society to reflect the needs and interests of our members and so we encourage your input. Due to the breadth of our subject, we welcome students from all disciplines and subjects - the more the merrier! We’re dedicated to creating a welcoming and inclusive society for everyone and will make sure all our events represent our diverse community. Make sure to follow our Instagram and other social media to hear about our latest news and events. If you're new to UCL, join our Freshers WhatsApp groupchat to meet other first years and keep up to date during freshers.
