Requirements

  • Educational Experience/Requirements:
  • Preferred Major(s): Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Urban Planning
  • Preferred Level of Education: College senior and above
  • Required enrollment status: Full-time (as defined by your academic institution) in a degree program at an accredited college or university
  • Physical Requirements:
  • The demands associated with the normal office environment
  • Must be able to comply with office policy to work on-site twice per week
  • Light physical activity, including walking outdoors and climbing stairs
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong Microsoft Office and computer skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Good analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Good organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Good project management skills
  • Strong ability to read and comprehend SQL statements
  • Experience with Python, JavaScript, and Oracle
  • Statistical analysis skills
  • Experience with ArcGIS and Hastus is preferred

Responsibilities

  • In this role within the Scheduling & Service Planning department’s AVAS unit, interns will:
  • Develop programming script to extract information from CTA automatic vehicle location (AVL) database.
  • Test multiple runtime analysis methods and present testing results.
  • Perform statistical analysis to validate new runtime analysis method.
  • Develop new runtime analysis procedure.
