Requirements

  • Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria:
  • Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student)
  • Must have attained a Master's Degree (within 2 years of having graduated).
  • Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student)
  • Required majors:
  • Life Sciences, Engineering, Cheminformatics, Computational Biology, Computational or Data sciences. (Expert in machine learning, python programming language, bioinformatics, (e.g, bulk RNA seq)
  • Required Skills:
  • Fluent in Python and experience with scientific software development for chemical or biological modeling.
  • Experience with analysis of data from genomic sequencing, bulk RNA-seq, proteomics, TCR engineering, differential expression and pathway analysis, etc.
  • Experienced in data analysis, visualization, machine learning, or deep learning like scikit-learn, PyTorch, etc.
  • Other Preferred Qualifications:
  • Candidates who are part of GEM/Meyerhoff/PSPG/SFSU, PINK/NEXGENGIRLS programs are highly considered.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Computational Toxicology (cTox) team and Investigative Toxicology (iTox) group in Safety Assessment to further elucidate the advantages and limitation of novel cardiomyocyte assay for early cardiotoxicity assessment in vitro.
  • Examine the current data landscape in the area of cardiotoxicity for Genentech internal compounds and work with iTox to fill critical data gaps.
  • Analyze and model the data to understand the relationship between individual ion channel effects and cardiomyocyte assay response.
  • supplement the analysis with public data from the Comprehensive in vitro Proarrhythima Assay (CiPA) system and test hypotheses formed on the internal GEN data set.
