Requirements

  • Education:
  • Current graduate students (Master's or PhD) who are available to work full time for the duration of the internship, OR Bachelor’s/Master's recent grads within 2 years of receiving their degree
  • Preferred majors:
  • Cell/Molecular/Cancer Biology, Biochemistry, Computational Biology, or related disciplines
  • Other Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience with NGS assays (WGS, RNAseq, ATACseq), including downstream computational analysis
  • Familiarity with a high-level programming language such as R or Python
  • Familiarity with oncology is preferred but not required
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills

  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively

Responsibilities

  • Perform next-generation sequencing (NGS) assays, such as ATAC-seq, on prostate cancer tissue samples to elucidate mechanisms of androgen receptor signaling
  • Utilize in vitro prostate cancer models to identify pharmacodynamic biomarkers that will inform clinical assay development
  • Process and analyze preclinical data; interpret results in the context of the scientific goal
  • Perform exploratory biomarker analyses of NGS data from clinical trials including whole genome sequencing (WGS), ATACseq, and RNAseq
  • Identify associations between NGS features and results from other key biomarker assays and/or patient outcomes
  • Develop oral and/or written dissemination of findings for discussions with internal/external collaborators, meetings and journal articles
  • Keep accurate and timely records of research findings and progress
  • Participate in Genentech internship program events and activities
