Requirements

  • Must be actively working towards a Bachelor’s or Masters in Accounting
  • Satisfactory completion of introductory accounting courses and a basic understanding of accounting and financial principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word
  • Interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communications skills
  • Organization skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • The ability to be discreet when handling sensitive financial information
  • Motivation and a strong desire to take on new challenges and learn as much as possible

Responsibilities

  • The intern will:
  • Shadow members of the Finance department as they perform their duties.
  • Assist with processing financial transactions such as cash receipts and accounts payable.
  • Assist the accounts payable team with reviewing expense reports and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with preparing basic account reconciliations related to the month end close process.
  • Assist with preparing journal entries related to the month end close process.
  • Work with Sage Intacct accounting software and other cloud-based software applications.
  • Handle sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity.
  • Learn how to work as part of the Finance team to compile and analyze data, track information, and support the organization.
  • Take on additional tasks or projects to learn more about accounting operations.
