What is the duration of the Law Department Summer Internship program?
The program will run from May 19, 2025, until Friday, July 25, 2025.
What are the working hours for the internship?
Interns are expected to be present in the office at a minimum of three (3) days per week.
Is the internship program paid?
Yes, the internship is paid, with compensation at a rate of $30 per hour.
What qualifications are required to apply for the internship?
The program seeks qualified law students of diverse backgrounds with excellent academic credentials, communication skills, and outstanding interpersonal skills. A biology or chemistry background is strongly preferred for candidates interested in Patent Law.
How do I apply for the internship?
Students interested in applying must do so via the Bristol Myers Squibb Workday posting by January 10, 2025, and attach a single PDF document with their resume and cover letter.
What should be included in the cover letter?
The cover letter should include the name of your law school and expected graduation year, a list of your top 3 areas of interest, a statement on why you are an excellent candidate, and a statement about how your life experiences inform your views on diversity and inclusion.

Yes, the program includes networking opportunities and a reception with alumni of the BMS Law Department internship program.

Areas of focus include Transactions, Regulatory Law, Compliance & Ethics, Corporate Governance/Securities, Drug Development Law, Employment Law, Litigation, Patent Law, and Medical, Commercialization & Digital Capabilities.
Is there a possibility for full-time employment after the internship?
The internship is not expected to lead to an offer of full-time employment.
