Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year experience in customer service
  • Physically able to walk and stand for long periods.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Great storyteller
  • Independent
  • Creative thinker and capable of improvisation
  • Capacity to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Excellent conversational skills with a knack for storytelling.
  • Personable, humorous disposition.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work during evenings and on weekends.
  • To be eligible for the City of Boise Internship Program, applicants must be:
  • Undergraduate or graduate students with a strong academic record or who graduated in the last 12 months from an accredited university
  • Majoring in art (any area), history, anthropology, urban studies, or a related field
  • Be able to work up to 15-20 hours per week.
  • Be able to commit to the entire internship program

Responsibilities

  • Greeting and welcoming customers to the tour.
  • Informing customers about the itinerary for each tour.
  • Planning itineraries in accordance with weather forecasts and the length of each tour.
  • Familiarizing yourself with the tour content
  • Familiarizing customers with tour content
  • Encouraging guests to apply sunscreen regularly and to remain hydrated, if applicable. Prior experience as a tour guide is advantageous.
  • Directing customers to other, non-competing services that might be of interest to them.
