  • What you will learn and contribute to:
  • We are a team working on the theory of novel computing methods, particularly physics-based approaches to optimization. You will be able to learn about how to program analogue optimization engines, analyze and benchmark their performance and look at possible applications for this new technology, including machine learning.
  • What is Nokia looking for from me:
  • We expect you to have:
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Clear written and spoken communication skills
  • Ability to carry out independent research
  • It would be desirable for you to have knowledge of some (or all) of these topics:
  • Combinatorial optimization and related topics
  • High-level programming languages (e.g. Python, Mathematica)
  • Modern machine learning methods
  • Statistical physics
  • Dynamical systems
  • Differential equations

Responsibilities

  • Nokia Bell Labs is the world-renowned research arm of Nokia, having invented many of the foundational technologies that underpin information and communications networks and all digital devices and systems. This research has produced ten Nobel Prizes, five Turing Awards, and numerous other awards.
  • Nokia Bell Labs is building the future of human experience and our interns will have the opportunity to learn from and work with industry-leading experts, who solve the most formidable challenges confronting our world through disruptive innovation and research.
  • Mathematics and Algorithms Group:
  • We're a team of applied mathematicians and computer scientists working on machine learning fundamentals as well as applications to communication systems and services. Our research spans information/communication theory, mechanisms for self-organizing networks and AI/ML in services including development of deep language models.
