Requirements

  • 1+ years of relevant roadway/highway drainage design experience with a civil engineering design firm
  • Bachelors or Masters from an ABET accredited university in the field of Civil Engineering
  • Municipal roadway drainage design experience required, INDOT experience desirable
  • Holds Engineering Intern certification or Professional Engineering (P.E.) License
  • Working knowledge of Microstation/InRoads/OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Experience in drainage design software (HY-8, HEC-RAS, Flowmaster, Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis, etc.) desirable
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude, self-motivated; sense of urgency to produce high quality work
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with the potential/desire to lead a practice and manage clients and a team

Responsibilities

  • Support our growing Roadway Design practice in Indianapolis and will require working on drainage engineering tasks for large and small-scale, public and private transportation projects
  • The candidate will perform conceptual analysis, preliminary engineering and final hydraulic design for INDOT, municipal, and local agency projects.
  • Work in a dynamic team environment on a range of projects including hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, storm sewer system analysis and design, bridge hydraulics, detention design, and post-construction stormwater management best practices
  • Prepare hydrologic/hydraulic analysis, drainage reports, design documents, and design plans and specifications for transportation projects
  • Technical writing in the form of memorandums, feasibility studies, and regulatory submittals (including Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans and 401/404 permit applications to IDEM/USACE)
  • Assist with developing scopes of work, associated budgets, preparing final design plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates
  • You will flourish on both building meaningful internal and external professional relationships
  • You will work closely and collaboratively with other industry leading professionals, various jurisdictions, and contractors
