What is the duration of the Clinical Informatics Fellowship in Acute Medicine?
The fellowship is a 12-month role starting in August 2026.
Who is eligible to apply for this fellowship?
Applicants must be eligible for full GMC registration and ideally post-IMT2 (or equivalent), competent to work at ST3 and above.
Is prior experience in data science research necessary to apply?
No specific experience in data science research is necessary; however, candidates should be passionate about developing research skills in this area.
What kind of clinical work will fellows be involved in?
Fellows will work at a registrar level in Same Day Emergency Care and the Enhanced Care Unit within the Acute Medicine Unit (AMU).
What is the expected split between research and clinical work?
The post will have a roughly 50/50 split between research work and clinical work.
Will fellows have supervision while working clinically?
Yes, fellows will work under the direct supervision of the Acute Medicine service consultants and their educational supervisor in Acute Medicine.
Can UK-based trainees seek approval for Out of Programme Experience?
Yes, UK-based trainees are encouraged to seek prospective approval for Out of Programme Experience from their Training Programme Director.
What types of skills will fellows develop during the fellowship?
Fellows will develop research skills including developing applications for externally-funded research, generating pilot data, formal training in research methods, biostatistics, systematic review, boosting recruitment to CRN portfolio studies, and improving their publication profile.
