The College Intern Program at OCTA is a year-round paid student/intern program designed to provide participants with real-world work experience on meaningful projects under the guidance of transportation professionals. Interns will have the opportunity to enhance their problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills while gaining valuable work experience.

The pay range for the College Intern position is from $19.00 to $22.00 per hour, depending on the intern's education level.

The work schedule for the internship consists of approximately 20 hours per week, and interns are not to exceed 1,000 hours within a continuous 12-month period.
What responsibilities will interns have while working at OCTA?
Interns will compile, compute, analyze, evaluate, and interpret data for projects, maintain and update the Section's AutoCAD data library, and assist in preparing engineering reviews of products, components, and projects related to mechanical engineering fleet activities.
What knowledge and skills should interns possess for this position?
Interns should have knowledge of principles and practices of mechanical engineering, operation and maintenance of large vehicle pools, proficiency in personal computer programs including AutoCAD and spreadsheets, and an understanding of various fields of engineering related to vehicle systems.
What qualifications are required to apply for this internship?
Applicants must be currently enrolled as full-time college students in a two-year or four-year program, pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree with an emphasis in Mechanical Engineering (experience with vehicle fleets is a plus). They must also maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA.
