What is the duration of the Corporate Communications Internship?
The Corporate Communications Internship is a 12-week program that starts at the end of May and runs through early August.
Where is the internship located?
The internship is based at our company headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.
How many days a week are interns expected to work in the office?
Interns are expected to work in the office a minimum of three days per week.
Is housing provided for interns?
No, Worthington Steel is not responsible for providing supplemental housing for students.
What kind of skills are desirable for this internship?
Desired skills include excellent research and writing skills (preferably in AP style and journalism), proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, familiarity with LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram, and the ability to manage multiple assignments independently.
What are the main responsibilities of the Communications intern?
The main responsibilities include managing an assigned business-related project, supporting the Communications team, monitoring media coverage and social media presence, and tracking and reporting on content performance.
What level of education should applicants be pursuing?
Applicants should be current sophomores or juniors working toward a bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
Will there be any formal training or development during the internship?
Yes, interns will participate in classes that cover topics such as general business etiquette, resume writing, interviewing, and presenting with confidence.
Is there a community service component in the internship program?
Yes, the internship program will feature a community service component in keeping with Our Philosophy.
What kind of project will the interns work on during the program?
Interns will complete a business-driven project and present their findings to their manager, mentors, and members of senior leadership upon graduation from the program.
