Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of experience
  • Currently enrolled at an accredited collegiate institution (during the time of the summer program)
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week during the duration of the program
  • Preferred qualifications:
  • 3.0 minimum GPA
  • Strong desire to learn and grow
  • Possess a positive attitude, naturally curious and enjoys collaborating with others
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Ability to multitask

  • Currently a Sophomore, Junior or Senior
  • Pursuing a Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Economics with focuses in: Data Science, Data Analytics,
  • Pursuing a Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics
  • A working understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Responsibilities

  • Be part of a dynamic team with interesting projects. Accountabilities can and may include areas such as research, analytics, projects, strategy, process review and improvement, as well as technology enhancements and support.
  • Attend professional development sessions, informational sessions, networking and community service events.
  • Have a dedicated manager and program manager to help you navigate the bank and the internship program.
  • Be assigned a project which will be designed to improve a specific process or solve a problem that will be presented at the close of the internship.
  • Prepare a wrap-up presentation to be shared with the division leader and other key stakeholders in the company to outline their accomplishments and experience during the internship.
  • First Citizens Bank is seeking multiple Interns for our summer program. Interns will participate in select portions of the Corporate Intern program while spending most of their time in intense financial analyst entry activities and may work in the following areas:
  • Treasury:
  • Using business analytic tools (Alteryx, DB Vizualizer, Cognos, Tableau, Hyperion, etc) to support various business project data requirements
  • Collaborate with a wide variety of business units on various data projects (Regulatory Reporting, FP&A, various Treasury teams, Info Tech, Loan and Deposit Operations)
  • Technical writing assignments to support implementation of data models
  • Controller/Regulatory Reporting
  • Assist with month end close processes including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, analysis & reporting.
  • The goal is for our intern to develop an insight into the controller function within the banking sector.
  • Corporate Finance:
  • Financial Analysis - compile and interpret financial data, analyzing data for trends
  • Produce relevant insights that help drive business practice
  • Reporting - produce reports based on data analysis, company trends, and financial processes
  • Effectively communicate the results of financial and data analysis in both written and verbal form
  • Process Improvement - help streamline and automate current processes to a more efficient, repeatable process
