Requirements

  • A current 2nd, 3rd or penultimate year undergraduate Edinburgh University student.
  • Ability to work with large data sets and consolidate complex information.
  • Ability to interpret, organise and present data and information.
  • Intermediate to expert Microsoft Office skills/Office 365.
  • Proactive, able to work independently, and prioritise workload.
  • The ability to forge relationships with a variety of stakeholders in a short space of time.
  • Ability to learn how to navigate and use new platforms in a short timeframe.
  • Desirable:
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional environment clearly and concisely, both orally and in written format.
  • Experience with automating data processes.
  • Experience of applying quality control checks to data, following best practices.

Responsibilities

  • The analyst will be expected to undertake the following tasks:
  • Seek to validate and allocate the relevant DDI sectors to historic data, applying quality control checks. (50%)
  • When more research is required to make an informed decision, use University platforms and other research mechanisms as appropriate to gather further information. (20%)
  • Document the process followed and recommend changes based on experience gained during the exercise, with a particular emphasis on recommendations on how to automate the process going forwards. (10%)
  • Present a final comprehensive data set to the DDI Hubs. (10%)
  • Other tasks as required for DDI reporting. (10%)
  • During the course of the internship, the analyst will be based in the DDI Programme Office and will develop and maintain close working relationships with each of the DDI Hubs.
