Requirements

  • Currently pursuing, or recently completed, an undergraduate or graduate degree in international affairs, journalism, public administration, nonprofit management, or a similar field;
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;
  • Proven excellent writing skills;
  • Experience maintaining organisational systems;
  • Keen to take initiative and collaborate in a team environment;
  • Proficiency in Google Suite products (Drive, Docs, Sheets and Forms) and Zoom;
  • Knowledge of international affairs, conflict prevention, management, and resolution issues, and Crisis Group’s body of work a plus;
  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge a plus; and,
  • Authorization to work in the United States or the United Kingdom.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Operations and Research Manager in conducting research on new and current prospects to support fundraisers in their cultivation process;
  • Preparing briefing notes on individuals or foundation contacts to prepare senior staff for high-level donor meetings;
  • Attending report launch calls and listening to our advocacy and communications strategies to determine if there are relevant upcoming events for our donors;
  • Maintaining and improving the team’s databases and internal tracking systems, helping to ensure the team is in compliance with donor obligations and reporting deadlines;
  • Updating and maintaining non-gift information on prospects and donors in the donor database;
  • Using creative thinkings skills to identify new sources of support to match institutional initiatives;
  • Assisting the entire Development team on as needed basis with special projects and unique research requests;
  • Collaborating with the team to effectively monitor the organisation’s work, both for donor reporting purposes and to assess the organisation’s progress toward achieving its goals;
  • Writing development materials and publications, such as end of year appeals, event invitations and impact reports; and,
  • Providing general administrative support as requested.
