Requirements

  • Working towards a BS or BA degree in chemistry, biological science, bioengineering, or equivalent
  • Hands-on experience with bioanalytical assays is preferred but not required
  • Organized, independent, and collaborative
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • A successful candidate will learn the basic theory and workflows of mammalian cell culture, protein purification, operation of relevant equipment (AKTA), and preparing supplies. The intern will also be observing and assisting experienced senior scientists in the laboratory with the goal of achieving laboratory independence by the end of the internship. The candidate will also learn how to properly record experimental data within an electronic lab notebook (Benchling) and present that data to fellow scientists. This internship is an excellent opportunity to learn about the growing field of gene therapy while also gaining valuable experience about performing research from scientific experts.
