Requirements

  • Eligibility:
  • The student must be pursuing a Diploma/Certificate/Degree in Electromechanical Engineering or equivalent and entering into their final year of studies in September 2024
  • Due to Controlled Goods Program (CGP) requirements, all applicants must be a Canadian Citizen or a Permanent Resident in Canada
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities of an Ideal Candidate:
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience of VFDs and PLCs is required
  • Knowledge of Ontario Electrical Code and electrical wiring practices is preferred
  • Must be able and comfortable working at heights and exposure to outdoor elements as this role involves rooftop work
  • Must be comfortable working in a manufacturing environment (dust, noise, vibration exposure)
  • Self-motivated, good communicator, capable of working independently while handling fluctuating workloads with strong organizational and problem solving skills
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment and dealing with multiple issues at any one time
  • Proficiency with MS Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project)

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Director of Facilities and Maintenance and the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Intern will be responsible for:
  • Analyzing machine reliability data and developing maintenance procedures to improve service uptime, including cataloguing VFDs and PLCs in use
  • Investigating root cause of major/frequent equipment failures
  • Reviewing existing documentation for completeness and accuracy
  • Developing technician training materials
  • Rooftop location mapping of critical equipment, identifying electrical source of supply
  • Electrical Distribution Equipment – document circuit details and identify with standardized labelling
