Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering such as Construction, Civil, Environmental, Biological, Mechanical, etc.
  • Engineering Intern or Engineer in Training Certification, or ability to obtain.
  • Process-oriented individual with strong organization and technical skills.
  • Solid communicator, able to take and understand directives from PM and coordinate efforts with design team.
  • Strong writing and verbal skills.
  • Must be willing and able to climb ladders, routinely travel and traverse uneven, unpaved terrain and work outside for extended periods of time on construction sites.
  • Able to complete work consistently with moderate flexibility to accommodate varying demands put on them by PM's.
  • Requires a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle and criminal record.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct periodic project site visits to monitor and observe construction of civil and municipal related projects to include water, sewer, storm drain, roadway, and civil general construction for compliance with contract documents.
  • Coordinate with contractors, design team and owners.
  • Review and interpret contract documents, construction contracts, drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare daily and periodic field observation reports and distribute to project team. Review and comment on reports prepared by others when necessary.
  • Coordinate with field crews for survey and testing as required by the contract, and review construction materials testing reports prepared by third party testing agencies.
  • Witness and document acceptance testing at various stages of construction.
  • Solve problems in a timely manner (involving appropriate parties) during various stages of construction.
  • Schedule, conduct and prepare documentation for substantial completion and final completion inspections, including punch lists.
  • Review redlines and coordinate preparation of record drawings.
  • Provides technical and design services in support of water infrastructure projects (i.e. water and wastewater treatment, water distribution and wastewater collection/pumping) under direct supervision of project engineers and managers.
  • Conducts technical evaluations and assists in writing reports and correspondence.
  • Prepares design computations and assessments.
  • Produces design/construction drawings, technical specifications, and bid documents.
  • Reports directly to their Project Manager.
  • Responsible for completing design tasks within budget and on schedule.
  • Communicates and coordinates technical evaluations and designs, technical writing of reports and correspondence with Project Manager and design team to complete work efficiently.
  • Stays current with Local, State & Federal Design Standards and Regulations.
