Requirements

  • Must have a) received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination by the date of hire or b) submitted and received approval of a religious or medical exemption, prior to start date, in order to be considered.
  • Bachelor's degree in counseling and guidance, rehabilitation counseling, social work, education, vocational counseling, psychology, pastoral counseling, family therapy, or related human service field; or bachelor's degree in any other field with two-years of supervised clinical experience in a mental health setting
  • Valid driver’s license to transport self to client sessions (intern will not transport clients).
  • Daily access to a well-maintained vehicle.
  • Must pass IM+CANS exam within one month of start date.
  • Must complete First Episode Psychosis trainings.
  • Experience working with adolescents and/or transition age youth and their families.
  • Availability to attend weekly team meetings, currently on Tuesdays.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess client’s personal, medical, emotional, social, and environmental situation through home, community, hospital, and office visits.
  • Provide comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessment services to and individualized treatment plans with adolescents, adults, and their families
  • Serve as an advocate for clients, linking them to needed community services; assess client’s personal, medical, social, emotional, and environmental situation to plan for linkage and treatment course
  • Assist clients in identifying signs and symptoms of de-compensation. Work
  • collaboratively with clients to identify coping skills to assist in managing symptoms and stressors experienced.
  • Assist clients in learning and improving independent living skills; i.e. personal hygiene, housekeeping skills, nutrition, and shopping for food and personal items
  • Educate and assist clients with applying for entitlements; i.e. Supplemental Security Income, Social Security Disability Insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and LINK
  • Accompany clients to important appointments in the community and provide support with issues related to housing, substance use, budgeting, social support, and medication. Interns are not able to transport clients in their personal vehicle, and client’s will be met at appointments.
  • Communicate effectively within the team model for a multi-disciplinary approach to client care.
  • Maintain documentation and chart in compliance with Medicaid, Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Services (CARF), and agency standards
  • Perform other related duties and/or projects as assigned
  • For 2nd year interns, opportunities are available to also hold a caseload with our general outpatient child and adolescent (6-25yoa) clinic
