Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of school (Ideally 2 )
  • Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering (Other engineering may be appropriate on case/case basis)
  • Interest in CAD Modeling and Hardware testing
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Currently enrolled at an accredited university
  • Completed at least 60 credit hours
  • Minimum of a 2.8 GPA
  • Self-motivated, team player and adaptability to a dynamic environment and the ability to complete all assignments as required
  • Must have the ability to visualize and work with complex mechanical/electrical systems and work with others in problem solving as part of a team
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision
  • Requisition Preferences:
  • ​Mechanical engineering degree seeking student
  • Familiarity with common hand tools and proficiency using them to perform assembly, disassembly, and troubleshooting on mechanical and electrical systems
  • Prior experience with hardware anomaly troubleshooting and failure analysis
  • Experience with procedure development
  • Experience with NASA or Aerospace Industry
  • Experience with written procedures and quality controls
  • Experience with CAD & 2D/3D Drawings
  • Experience with tools like Thermal Desktop and/or ANSYS Fluent or similar software
  • Experience with doing physical testing – assembling test hardware, destructively testing components, deconstructing and analyzing hardware post-test​

Responsibilities

  • Work in a team environment, and report to project engineer or project manager for technical support, task assignment, and processes
  • Work with a fellow EE to design and provide the mechanical support for a prototype piece of hardware that provides power for portable equipment.
  • Tasks will include working with 3D CAD modeling software to design the enclosure, help assemble and/or write assembly procedure for building up the prototype, as well as specifying parts and outsourcing the construction of machined parts designed for this prototype
  • Thermal analysis and/or testing of heat generating units inside the box. Based on test results and/or analysis, candidate will design or modify the heat extraction capabilities of the enclosure
  • Interact frequently with other JETS teams and departments
  • Perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions
  • Perform other duties as required
  • Perform hands on testing of power board and thermal/efficiency measurements of DC/DC converters
