Requirements

  • Matriculation at an accredited college. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in college
  • As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
  • Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong sense of the NYC political and government landscape
  • Writing experience and knowledge of social media applications, and email service providers
  • An interest in press and communications

Responsibilities

  • The Communications Intern will assist the Press Corps with monitoring the daily news cycle, coordinating press releases, conferences, and communication efforts for the Comptroller's Office. Responsibilities of the Intern include, but are not limited to:
  • Compiling, sending, and logging daily news clips
  • Helping to draft talking points and press materials
  • Monitoring and taking notes during Mayor’s daily briefing
  • Monitoring and taking notes during the Governor’s daily briefing
  • Attending press conferences and assisting with set up and tear down
