Requirements

  • A student:
  • You must be currently enrolled in graduate degree program or be a recent graduate (< 1 year ago) in a degree program such as Communications, Creative Writing, Sustainability, Environment, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Passionate and Effective Communicator:
  • You have experience creating written and visual marketing content. You have strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills, the ability to communicate to a variety of audiences, and the ability to develop and deliver PowerPoint presentations, and written documents that are free of grammatical and typographical errors.
  • Committed to Equity:

Responsibilities

  • Your core project in this internship is to conduct an in-depth analysis of the Port's website environment and sustainability content, proposing a strategic refresh.
  • You will pitch captivating story ideas and collaborate with internal teams to bring them to life across multimedia platforms.
  • You will support the publication of E&S reports and news, including on-site event support.
  • You will gain valuable insights into Port operations, customers, policies, stakeholders, and our role in shaping Seattle and Washington State.
  • You will participate in E&S staff meetings and other meetings and occasionally give presentations.
  • You may also work on other E&S projects and will have opportunities to apply creative thinking, innovative approaches, and grow professionally.

Mission & Purpose

Founded in 1911, the Port owns and operates Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Fishermen’s Terminal — home of the North Pacific fishing fleet — and public marinas. The Port also owns two cruise ship terminals, a grain terminal, real estate assets, and marine cargo terminals through its partnership in the Northwest Seaport Alliance. Port operations help support nearly 200,000 jobs and $7 billion in wages throughout the region. Over the next 19 years, the port’s “Century Agenda” seeks to create an additional 100,000 jobs through economic growth while becoming the nation’s leading green and energy-efficient port.
