Requirements

Required Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years old
Must have a minimum GPA of 2.8
Authorized to work in the United States without Sponsorship now or in the futureMust be currently enrolled as a full-time student in a Masters/PhD program at an accredited US based university or college
Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student in a graduate (Master’s or PhD) program at an accredited US-based university or college, pursuing degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, or a related field
Must have a good working knowledge of SAS, STATA, SQL, or R
Must be enrolled full-time in the Fall Semester at an accredited university/college after the completion of the internship
Must be able to complete a 10-12 consecutive week internship between May and August
Must be able to relocate if necessary and work at the designated site for the du‐ration of the internship
Self-motivated, adaptable to a dynamic environment
Strong organizational, time-management, interpersonal and communication capabilities
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency with MS Office Suite
Ability to identify issues and seek solutions
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Demonstrated commitment to inclusion and diversity in the workplace
Efficient, organized, and able to handle short timelines in a fast-paced environment
Experience with secondary data analysis, including electronic medical record and/or medical claims databases, and with statistical analysis tools, such as SAS and R.
Demonstrated experience with observational research
Excellent detail oriented analytical, problem-solving skills
Ability to identify issues and seek solutions

Responsibilities

Work with his/her supervisor to decide on a pharmacoepidemiology research project, based on the experience and interest of the intern (within the scope of Virology)
With guidance and direction from the supervisor, learn to develop a study protocol and/ or statis-tical analysis plan to describe the research design and method
Conduct analysis using in-house real-world database (eg. insurance claims, electronic medical records, or from an existing post-marketing Phase IV study)
Learning how to address the challenges with the project or data through presentation of scien-tific evidence
At the conclusion of the internship, the intern will give a presentation summarizing the research project completed during the program
