Requirements

  • Basic Qualifications:
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree program, or graduated in the past 12 months from an accredited institution. Candidates who have earned a degree may work for a period not to exceed 12 months. Must have a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
  • Additional Required Qualifications:
  • The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree and should be studying for a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or other systems engineering fields.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ideal candidates will have a background and expertise in one or more of the following topics:
  • Convex optimization
  • Machine learning
  • Distributed solution methods for convex and/or nonconvex programs
  • Demonstrates broad understanding and wide application of principles, theories, and concepts in operations, controls, and optimization of power systems
  • General knowledge of other related disciplines
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following programming languages: C, C++, Python, Matlab

Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will work towards the development of scalable, distributed, and data-driven optimization algorithms for power systems.
  • The ideal candidate has experience in optimization theory or machine learning, preferably with applications to power systems. The candidate should demonstrate experience in theory and algorithms development and basic programming skills.
