Requirements

  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree program, or graduated in the past 12 months from an accredited institution. Candidates who have earned a degree may work for a period not to exceed 12 months. Must have a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
  • Experience with time-series data forecasting
  • Experience with energy and power system modeling
  • Excellent writing and communications skills
  • Ability to present technical results to a wide audience
  • Research interests:
  • Strong interest in future energy systems, including renewable energy, electrification, power system operations and distributed energy resources.
  • Enthusiastic about learning new skills and applying them in a collaborative environment to help address critical energy system research questions.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with power profile modeling (i.e.. substation, feeder, and customer profiles)
  • Previous experience writing technical papers

Responsibilities

  • The IDS group is engaged in multiple projects focused on developing better understanding of distributed energy resources' (DERs) impact on both the distribution and transmission systems across the US. This group is developing new techniques to model and forecast short-term load flexibility. The ideal intern candidate will work with deep learning, machine learning, and other iterations of artificial intelligence to contribute to this work.
