Requirements

  • Are in full time education at university, and will be returning to university/your studies to complete your undergraduate degree following the placement
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the placement
  • Working towards an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Physics or Mathematics
  • Experience programming in python
  • Ability to translate real world problems into computer code solutions
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a scientific team
  • Experience in writing software documentation

Responsibilities

  • Work with the instrument team to define a process for calibrating the instrument.
  • Analyse the existing software used for instrument calibrations.
  • Create/modify Mantid (python) scripts for automatic instrument calibrations.
  • Analyse the results of the software solutions and define future software needs.
