Responsibilities

  • Design, development, and test of new software for automation of optical system measurements
  • Development of software applications and features for automated testing in Optical Systems lab
  • Write software code in Python to control lab equipment, including ADVA modules and external test equipment such as optical spectrum analyzers
  • Utilize a variety of equipment interfaces including Ethernet, serial, and GPIB
  • Create basic user interface for custom automation program to be used in Optical Systems lab
  • Test functionality with relevant lab equipment along with Optical Systems team members
  • Provide clearly defined code structure and ample comments so that the program may be easily updated and augmented by others in the future
  • Write a document describing the program and present results at internal meetings
  • Present project updates and results to team members and summer intern group
