  • Qualifications We Require:
  • You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:
  • Earned bachelor's degree
  • Currently attending and enrolled full time in the spring term immediately preceding the internship (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited science, engineering, or math graduate program
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer
  • U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents, asylees or refugees in the U.S.
  • Note: If you have not yet started your graduate program, please apply to an undergraduate intern position.
  • Qualifications We Desire:
  • Currently attending and enrolled full time in the spring term immediately preceding the internship (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited science, engineering, or math graduate program.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer.
  • Ability to work onsite due to required duties and tasks.
  • Undergraduate school coursework in materials science, chemistry, electrical, mechanical or chemical engineering—or other STEM field.
  • Additional laboratory experience or coursework in chemistry, materials science, physics, or an engineering discipline is desirable.
  • Experience with technical software for data collection and automated research, data processing, modeling, as well as digital preparation of reports/manuscripts, presentations, and posters.
  • Mature oral and written communication skills are desired, as demonstrated by coursework or project assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Chemical synthesis, characterization and precursor development for materials science applications.
  • Nanomaterials and ceramics for materials applications in extreme environments.
  • Mechanical/electrical design, development and characterization of materials and processes for additive manufacturing and other advanced manufacturing techniques.
  • This internship at AML requires onsite work in Albuquerque, NM.
