Requirements

  • Experience in creating maps using ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro).
  • Exposure to or interest in learning the ArcGIS Online web platform.
  • Interest and fundamental knowledge of the renewable energy industry and US electricity infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Microsoft Excel. 
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative environment that emphasizes attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and working together to achieve company-wide objectives.
  • Intellectual curiosity and an interest in renewable energy. You’re here because you believe in and want to help create a clean energy future.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. You’re willing to ask lots of questions, listen to your colleagues, and contribute your ideas.

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Exposure to the energy industry, including the project development lifecycle.
  • Exposure to project schedules and project budgets.
  • Knowledge of various sources of publicly-available spatial data that may contribute to analyzing prospective renewable sites.
  • Some knowledge of governmental mandates, environmental regulations or customer/market signals that impact or facilitate new development of renewable projects in major markets (CAISO, WECC, ERCOT, MISO, SPP, PJM, NYISO, ISO-NE).

Responsibilities

  • Support in preparing data for import into our land management software.
  • Support in digitizing lease boundaries using PLSS land descriptions.
  • Gather, analyze, and integrate spatial data from internal teams and determine how best to present this information using GIS software.
  • Develop maps in ArcGIS Desktop for use in ArcGIS Online and printed formats.
  • Learn about the development milestones of complex large-scale renewable energy projects from initial project proposal and siting, through to permitting, design, interconnection, approval, contracting, financing, and handover to construction.
  • Support the development of alternative project development approaches that reduce exposure to permitting risks, optimize development schedules or create additional project value.
  • Support development of user interface for use by permitting and environmental teams in ArcGIS Online.
  • The GIS Development Intern will be assigned with an individual project and will present results to the project leadership at the end of the summer.
