Requirements

  • Enrolled in a four-year undergraduate college or university majoring in Civil Engineering or a master’s degree program majoring in Civil Engineering.
  • You must possess a valid driver’s license, have a clean driving record, and
  • Have the ability to get to various worksite locations.
  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must have the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and various terrains associated with construction projects.
  • Completed at least one year towards a four-year college or university majoring in Civil Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Work on projects for government agencies including Cities, Counties, and TxDOT.
  • Work under the guidance of traffic engineers and other staff on various traffic engineering projects including traffic impact analysis (TIA), traffic forecasting, traffic signal timing, and microscopic modeling (VISSIM/CORSIM).
  • Assist in the preparation of traffic design and construction documents for traffic signals, roadway illumination, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), signing, and pavement marking. Specific tasks that you may assist with are design calculations, cost estimates, and plan preparation in MicroStation.
  • You will learn about the industry through on-the-job experience.
