Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a BA/BS or MS degree in Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology or related fields.
  • Must be at least a Junior in college at the time of your application.
  • Must have at least 6 months of prior experience in biology / biochemistry laboratory with routine functions such as pipetting, preparing buffers and solutions, maintaining lab safety etc
  • Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • Prior internship, work, or volunteer/extracurricular experience in biological research laboratories
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite and ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Available to work full-time during the summer months (May-August)
  • Proactive and solution-driven mindset
  • Strong sense of accountability and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Flexible and willing to support a variety of tasks for the Bioanalysis & Bioassay team.

Responsibilities

  • Become familiar and understand the workflow of an established immunoassay, determine assay steps that are adaptable for automation.
  • Develop automatic assay flow on Andrew pipetting robot:
  • Design protocol of automatic steps on such as diluting samples, preparing standards and reagents, loading sample and reagents onto plates.
  • Perform assay runs on automatic protocol.
  • Qualify the automatic assay protocol:
  • Perform multiple runs of assay on automatic protocol.
  • Determine assay reproducibility based on a standard and QC performance from multiple runs.
  • Summarize and draft study report
