Requirements

  • In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution with current class standing of Sophomore or above.
  • Recent graduates will not be eligible for this program.
  • Minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA is required.
  • An official transcript may be required upon request.
  • Preferred majors include: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering.
  • Preferred coursework completed: Statics, Dynamics.
  • Strong technical communication and presentation skills required.
  • Experience in SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred.
  • Ability to read technical drawings preferred.
  • Experience or interest in technical and creative industries preferred.
  • Must be efficient in Microsoft Office Programs including, but not limited to: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities and organization.

Responsibilities

  • Performs portion of attraction concept and preliminary design reviews.
  • Engages in engineering design, analysis, and management learnings that may include structural calculations, statistical analysis, FMEA, FTA, testing, programming, CAD/Solid works design and modeling.
  • Supports with engineering tasks, 3D design, analysis of mechanical and mechatronic systems.
  • Attends meetings and design reviews in support of global projects.
  • Assists with mock-ups, demonstrations, tangible equipment.
  • Assists department with auditing, reviewing existing or newly commissioned attraction ride systems and components.
  • Assists with quarterly safety reports, data collection and reduction, near term design and testing, and surgical strike project team support in scoping and contracting, engineering review, erection, and testing.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Mission & Purpose

Universal Creative is the research and development group responsible for designing rides and attractions for Universal Parks & Resorts theme parks. It is Universal's equivalent of Walt Disney Imagineering. From 1968 until 1997, Universal Creative was known as MCA Planning and Development. In 1997, when Universal parent MCA was sold to Seagram and dropped the MCA name, the company was renamed Universal Creative.
