Requirements

  • Interns must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or another related field
  • Previous internship/work experience is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Desire to perform research and simplify complex security regulatory topics
  • Self-motivated, eager learner, and aptitude to grow and develop
  • Motivated to work in a team-based atmosphere
  • Broad, basic knowledge of cyber security topics
  • Healthy interest in learning about Cyber Security and Risk
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint
  • Comfortable with virtual collaboration and meeting software, including Teams
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt and demonstrate flexibility in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently
  • Interns must be able and willing to relocate themselves to Houston for the duration of the work term
  • Interns must be able to commit to a 13-week work term starting May 20, 2024 to be considered for the program
  • Successful candidate must provide satisfactory references, complete a Criminal Background Check, and be in compliance with the Company’s Drug & Alcohol Policy including pre-employment testing.

Responsibilities

  • Risk:
  • Review and assist in implementing improvements to the security standards and processes
  • Conduct research on Security Risk
  • Capture metrics used in Risk and Compliance reporting
  • Assist in audit data collections
  • Collaborate with various security functions to support recurring Governance, Risk, and Compliance tasks
  • IT Security Operations:
  • Coordinate remediation of detected vulnerabilities
  • Analyze vulnerability scanning results and assist with reporting
  • Monitor endpoint security events and assist with response activities
  • Browse security event systems using common query languages
  • Perform incident ticketing operations
  • Conduct threat hunting activities
  • Gather advanced metrics used to measure effectiveness of controls
  • Assist with monthly reporting efforts
  • Maintain and update standard operating procedures
