The ideal candidate for the Legal Department Intern (Summer 2024) position at Ciena must possess strong writing skills, curiosity, self-motivation, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. They should be enrolled in an ABA accredited Law School, have proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and a willingness to learn from both the legal team and the business functions they support. A previous legal or business environment experience and an undergraduate business or finance degree are considered assets.

The Legal Department Intern at Ciena will work closely with the Legal team on various legal matters and projects, conducting research, drafting memos, and participating in negotiations. They will also collaborate with colleagues from different business units, share insights in team meetings, and attend social and community events to gain a holistic understanding of the company's culture and practice areas.
