Requirements

  • Junior or Senior status enrolled at Harris-Stowe State University
  • Qualifying majors in an academic area related to financial services or insurance industry, such as, finance, data analytics, communications, accounting, or business administration.
  • Non-business majors are welcome if strong interest in financial services and/or insurance industry A minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 GPA scale.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Ability to learn claims computer applications.
  • Good collaborative and relationship-building skills
  • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects.
  • This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
  • This position is a hybrid role and may require work in the office 2-3 days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Become fully immersed into the operations of a life insurance company by working in underwriting, policy administration, the call center, and claims.
  • Be assigned an operational excellence project and work alongside a business process engineer to deliver process improvement initiatives across one of the life insurance operations functional areas.
  • Interact and coordinate with other departments to gain an understanding of the innerworkings of a life insurance company and how each team meets organizational objectives.
  • Complete professional development assignments
  • Report out on operational excellence project results.
  • Communicate via written correspondence or email to internal and external customers.
