Requirements

  • The Summer Mechanical Engineering intern candidate will preferably have the following qualifications:
  • Rising Junior or Senior, Target graduation date in 2025 or 2026
  • Mechanical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering
  • Strong Academic Credentials
  • Basic CAD and Drafting
  • Courses in basic Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or Embedded software a plus.
  • Experience working with and designing sheet metal parts, stampings, welded assemblies & injection molded plastic parts
  • Successfully manage strong academics with extracurricular activities.

Responsibilities

  • During your internship you will have the opportunity to support Mechanical Engineering with key activities including:
  • Design and prototyping of innovative product concepts related to consumer power tools are related fields.
  • Perform engineering design tasks for new product development and cost reduction projects. These may include improvements in user experience, product value, manufacturing efficiency, or product reliability.
  • Preparation of possible solutions along with decision matrix to assist in choosing technical direction.
  • These may include improvements in user experience, product value, manufacturing efficiency, or product reliability.
  • Assist in developing and testing new products that meet design, marketing, regulatory, quality, and cost requirements as defined by engineering and the product development process
  • Proactively consider cost, performance, and durability tradeoffs to help meet project cost targets.
  • Support manufacturing facilities & supply chain on design related issues for product that is currently in production
  • You will have exposure to several areas of the Mechanical Engineering at Stanley Black & Decker and will work on a wide variety of tasks and projects with a cross functional team of professionals including: Product Design Group, Testing, Regulatory, Quality, Product Marketing, and Manufacturing
