Requirements

  • You should be matriculated in an MEng course in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • We normally only consider candidates who require a 6-month industrial placement to meet the academic requirement of their course.
  • A full statement of courses and projects studied at university and corresponding grades/marks/percentage should be included in your CV.
  • Studying an electronics-biased degree, including modules covering topics such as digital design, analogue design and signal processing with experience of using PCB design and simulation tools, is highly desirable.
  • Please note that in order to apply for this opportunity you must be eligible for UK security clearance.
  • Normally this is to the level of Security Check (typically known as “SC”) for our business which includes having a minimum of five years permanent residency in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Learn the skills required for hardware development. This could include developing practical skills in design techniques for aerospace applications, understanding of key technologies, developing experience using ECAD tools and test equipment.
  • Electronics Engineers design, document, build and test electronics circuits and firmware designs to go into our various systems. You will interface with customers and suppliers on many factors within the design and liaise closely with engineers from several other disciplines, which may include Mechanical, Software, Systems, Supportability and Design Integrity.
  • There will be opportunities to develop expertise in the design of circuits, FPGAs and subsystems at various stages in the product lifecycle. This will include requirements capture, performance analysis, design, code, verification, validation and support to integration and qualification.
  • Deliver technical reports and presentations on your work assignments to your supervisor and fellow MEng students.
  • Deliver plans and reports to the required academic standard of your university.
  • Most training will be delivered on the job, working on real hardware within project groups delivering sensor systems to our customers.
  • Additional formal technical training to support on the job training may be provided via taught courses depending on the business needs.
