Responsibilities

  • The Nutrition Assistant will collaborate with the Nutrition Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator to support player health, wellness, and performance by focusing on the following:
  • Execute the nutrition department’s vision and strategy to enhance player performance and well-being.
  • Assist in menu development and provide oversight of food service operations across all Red Sox affiliates.
  • Communicating and collaborating with local vendors to coordinate home and road catering, placing weekly meal orders for all affiliates.
  • Maintain accurate records of meal expenses and invoices, manage budgets, and reconcile billing in a timely manner.
  • Serves as liaison between the Nutrition Department and other internal departments, assisting the Performance Team with menu feedback and catering logistics.
  • Tailor vendor recommendations to the unique demands of professional baseball, considering player preferences, allergies, special dietary needs, and affiliate feedback.
  • Troubleshooting vendor-related issues, such as portion sizes, special meal requests, or delivery delays, and manage last-minute or emergency meal orders when necessary.
  • Adjust meal schedules as needed for rain delays, doubleheaders, or other game-day changes.
  • Create weekly menu infographics and other communication materials for athletes and staff at all affiliates.
  • Stay up to date with current nutrition research and continuing education, and be available to assist with additional nutrition-related tasks and responsibilities as needed.
