The candidate must be enrolled in a Master's or PhD program in Physics, Optics, Engineering, or a related major with a deep understanding of lasers. They should have >2 years of relevant industrial experience and strong hands-on lab skills in laser building, testing, and characterization. Excellent communication and teamwork skills are required, along with proficiency in optical simulation and data processing tools. Travel and experience with ultrafast laser and nonlinear optics are preferred, and experience with design for manufacturability, serviceability, and cost reduction is a plus.

The Optical Engineer Intern at Lumentum will be responsible for evaluating laser performance and solving prototype issues, optimizing laser design architecture, analyzing and presenting test data, and leading technical teams.
