Requirements

  • A current 2nd, 3rd or penultimate year undergraduate University of Edinburgh student
  • Significant Python programming skills
  • Prior experience of working with Linux computer systems
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Good organisational and planning skills
  • Ability to work independently

Responsibilities

  • Review, compare and contrast the School’s current programming courses – focusing in particular on our Python courses – then disseminate the results of this review to key staff. (30%)
  • Develop new interactive Python code examples in the form of Jupyter Notebooks for our introductory “Scientific Programming” course, and potentially help other courses make similar improvements. (30%)
  • Research and review current options, tools and workflows for the submission and marking of programming assignments. (20%)
  • Curate online resources on computing & programming skills to help our more advanced students develop skills that are not explicitly covered in our programming courses. (20%)
