Requirements

  • Current enrollment in any of the following degree programs: Public Administration, Geography, Architecture, Political Science, Public Health, Urban Planning, or a related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Current enrollment with a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester (undergraduate level) or 3 credit hours per semester (graduate level)
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • A valid Nevada driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • The Planning and Zoning intern will support the Advanced Planning team with various projects and initiatives. Topics include long range planning, sustainability and resiliency, population estimation and projection, regional planning, and open space and trail planning. This internship offers a unique opportunity for hands-on experience in public service, municipal and regional planning operations. The intern will support the projects under the Advanced Planning team by assisting with research, report drafting, review NRS codes and ordinances, attend meetings and workshop preparation, and provide general office support for the division which includes but is not limited to the following: archiving files, assisting clients, etc.
