Requirements

  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a degree granting program, or graduated in the past 12 months from an accredited institution.
  • Internship period cannot exceed 12 months past graduation.
  • Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
  • Exceptional teaming and collaboration skills to work with a variety of experts and stakeholders on group tasks.
  • Possesses the ability to work independently, problem solve, take initiative, and think critically about complex questions.
  • Good listening skills and communication skills to work with a variety of team members
  • Proficiency in writing and editing high quality technical reports and presentations.
  • A self-starter who seeks out answers and information when not readily available.
  • Conduct research and disseminate information on emerging energy technologies.
  • Correspond with team members regarding demonstration data, performance results and additional data needs.
  • Present results and revise results and reports in response to client comments.

  • Evaluate technical and economic feasibility of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects using EE and RE analysis tools such as eQUEST, Open Studio, REopt, SAM, HOMER, and RetScreen

Responsibilities

  • The intern may also assist in analysis and deployment of energy informatics tools, including energy management and information systems (EMIS) that improve the performance of integrated energy systems.
  • The intern may conduct engineering analysis using software tools, and linear and non-linear programming to evaluate the technical and economic feasibility of renewable energy, energy efficiency, storage, and conventional generation in buildings, campuses, or microgrids.
  • The intern may also work directly with senior engineers on new technology demonstration projects. The intern may be responsible for helping to analyze technology performance data, develop regression-based performance models, and write technical reports.
