What is the Return to Practice Programme?

The Return to Practice Programme is designed for qualified Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) who want to return to practice after being away, providing supervised placements, professional development opportunities, and support for HCPC re-registration.

Who is eligible to apply for the Return to Practice Programme?

Eligible applicants are qualified AHPs who have previously been on the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) register and live in East Lancashire and surrounding areas.

What AHP professions are you looking for?

We are looking for the following AHP professions: Dietitians, Occupational Therapists, ODPs, Orthoptists, Orthotists, Physiotherapists, Podiatrists, Prosthetists or Orthotists, Diagnostic Radiographers, and Speech and Language Therapists.

Is the Return to Practice Programme paid?

The programme is in the form of an unpaid Honorary Contract position; however, in some cases, a fixed-term contract as a support worker may be possible depending upon the service needs.

Can I receive financial support while participating in the programme?

Yes, participants can apply for a Health Education England award of £800 to assist with their Return to Practice.

What support will I receive during the programme?

Participants will receive support throughout the programme including supervision, professional development opportunities, a supervision record for skill evidence, and peer support.

What are the hours required for the programme?

The programme allows for flexibility with both full-time and part-time positions available, and individual requirements can be discussed.

Will I have to complete any additional training?

Yes, you will be required to complete a Trust Induction and contracted hours, as well as maintain a supervision record evidencing your updated skills and knowledge.
