Requirements

  • MS/PhD Student in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience of working with mobile robotic applications, localization algorithms, modeling, tracking, navigation, and path planning techniques
  • Experience with multi sensor fusion techniques
  • Strong C and Python programming skills, embedded programming experience is a big plus
  • Desired Qualification:
  • Experience in computer vision, wireless communication, signal processing and machine learning.
  • Experience in using different machine learning libraries and tools (e.g. TensorFlow)
  • Experience with visual odometry will be a plus

Responsibilities

  • Phase 1: Bring-up the overall system with all required hardware and software components
  • Phase 1: Develop novel localization solution by fusing sensor data from cameras, IMUs and on board wireless
  • Phase 1: Design and develop embedded software to implement proof of concept demo of robot navigation
  • Phase 2: Testing environment setup and integrate wireless charging solution to the developed prototype
  • Phase 2: Optimize Phase 1 navigation solution including wireless charging indicators as additional sensing input
  • Phase 3: Robust communication methods between lander and rover wireless charging units
  • Phase 3: PoC demo for smart docking incl. localization, navigation and positioning for optimal wireless charging
  • All phases: Conduct performance analysis & feasibility studies using simulations, experiments, analytical modeling
  • All phases: Documentation, reports, and if applicable, publish research work in the form of patents/papers
