What age must I be to volunteer for this position?
Volunteers must be aged 16 or older; we are unable to accept volunteers under 16.
Is this a paid position?
No, this is an unpaid voluntary position.
What tasks will I be expected to perform as a Stockroom Volunteer?
Typical tasks include preparing donated items for sale, using a clothes steamer, attaching labels and tags to donated items, identifying unsaleable donations for recycling, and keeping the sort room organised and tidy.
Can I volunteer if I have a criminal conviction?
Unfortunately, we cannot accept volunteers with unspent criminal convictions.
How many hours do I need to commit to volunteering?
We welcome volunteers who can spare a few hours a week or a couple of hours occasionally.
What benefits do volunteers receive?
Volunteers enjoy a 25% discount on donated goods, a 10% discount on new goods, unlimited free and confidential support by Retail Trust, access to training and development, reimbursement of reasonable travel expenses, refreshments, and certificates or references for volunteering.
Do I need previous experience to apply for this role?
No previous experience is required; we will provide any necessary training for your tasks.
What should I wear while volunteering?
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting a bit messy, as you will be handling donated items.
Is there a specific location where I will be volunteering?
Yes, you will be volunteering in one of our British Heart Foundation charity shop stock rooms.
Will I be volunteering alone or with a team?
You will have the opportunity to volunteer alongside other friendly volunteers in a team environment.
