What is the purpose of this volunteering role?
The Stockroom Volunteer role supports our charity in funding research for heart and circulatory diseases by helping prepare donated items for sale in our shops.
What are the typical tasks I would be doing as a Stockroom Volunteer?
Typical tasks include preparing donated items for sale, using a clothes steamer, attaching labels and tags to donated items, identifying unsaleable donations for recycling, and keeping the sort room organized and tidy.
Is there a minimum age requirement to volunteer?
Yes, we are unable to accept volunteers aged under 16.
Is this an unpaid position?
Yes, this is an unpaid voluntary position.
Are there any benefits to volunteering?
Yes, volunteering comes with benefits such as a 25% discount on donated goods, access to training and development, reimbursement of reasonable travel expenses, refreshments, and certificates or references provided.
Can I volunteer just a few hours a week?
Yes, volunteering with us is flexible, and you can spare a few hours a week or a couple of hours occasionally.
Is prior experience necessary to volunteer in the stockroom?
No prior experience is necessary; we welcome anyone who is keen to help out and maintain an organized stockroom.
Will my travel expenses be covered while volunteering?
Yes, reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed.
What should I do if I have a criminal record?
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept volunteers with unspent criminal convictions.
How can I get discounts as a volunteer?
Volunteers receive a 25% discount on donated goods and a 10% discount on new goods in our shops, along with access to discounts with other retailers.
