Responsibilities

  • What will I be doing?:
  • The purpose of this role would be to support the Engagement team, in particular looking to support with the organisation of the next CRUK Early Diagnosis Research Conference event, which are very popular amongst the early diagnosis medical/academic/clinical community.
  • Role and Purpose:
  • The Strategic Evidence (SE) team translates evidence across the cancer pathway for a range of different audiences. We are divided into two sub-teams: the Evidence & Research team and the Engagement team, where this role will sit predominantly. The Evidence & Research team are responsible for generating, collating and triangulating evidence across the cancer pathway - in particular focusing on optimising services and innovations. The Engagement team are then responsible for channelling this evidence and insight into a range of teams both internally at CRUK and externally, and developing impactful, evidence-based content including webpages and resources, for a range of audiences across the health system pathway. We are also responsible for organising the CRUK Early Diagnosis Research Conference events which take place both virtually and F2F.
  • This role would be very varied, with the opportunity to get involved in lots of different activities to support with comms to key health system stakeholders around innovation and the early diagnosis of cancer. There would also be the opportunity to support the International Cancer Benchmarking Partnership (ICBP) team (who are linked to the SE team), an international multidisciplinary collaboration founded to facilitate mutual learning about factors that may help to improve outcomes for. The ICBP produces high quality research to help identify best international practice, and generate insights needed for policy and practice change. This will help to enable optimisation of cancer services and improvement of outcomes for cancer patients.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Working closely with the Manager to develop resources and webpages around the early diagnosis of cancer for a range of health system audiences, in particular GPs
  • Provide event management and support for key stakeholder meetings, events and conferences e.g. the Early Diagnosis Research Conference or Virtual Series, including organising logistics
  • Supporting with the planning, delivery and evaluation of the SE team newsletters, including scoping and writing content and liaising with key stakeholders
  • Supporting with the management and evaluation of the CRUK HCP Twitter Handle
  • Potential to also support the International Cancer Benchmarking Partnership (ICBP) team

  • Stage 2: Assessment
  • If your initial application is successful you will then be invited to complete our situational judgment test. The test poses real life scenarios that a CRUK intern might be met with in their day to day role and asks how you would tackle that scenario. This is un-timed and multiple choice. Please let us know if you think you might require adjustments for this assessment.   
  • Stage 3: Audio Submission
  • If you are successful in the previous stage, you will be asked to complete an audio submission, answering competency-based questions. The questions will be emailed to you and you will have a few days to submit a response via an audio recording (no video required).   
  • Stage 4: Interviews
  • If you are successful in the previous stage, you will then be invited to a face-to-face interview at our head office or a virtual interview with representatives from the team you are applying to.
