Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a degree in sustainable building, architecture, engineering, interiors or related field
  • You have completed your third year of an undergraduate program or first year of a graduate program and are returning to your program post-internship. This internship is not for recent graduates
  • Significant interest in and aptitude for sustainable design, certifications, and learning about project management, and client relationships
  • LEED Accreditation required, additional accreditations a plus
  • Knowledge of building systems, sustainable materials, and consultant coordination
  • Knowledge of LEED and certification project management
  • Ability to perform technical analysis is a plus (e.g. energy and daylighting simulation, specification writing, materials selection, cost and life cycle studies, etc.)
  • Resourceful, self-motivated, enthusiastic team player
  • A sense of humor and a knack for innovation and problem solving, and a collaborative, solutions-oriented working style
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficient user of LEED Online, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and InDesign
  • Familiarity with project management tools or willingness to learn
  • Familiarity with digital collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, and willingness to learn others such as Miro and/or Mura

Responsibilities

  • You will support the team on a broad range of sustainability and wellness projects, including strategy development, analytic works, and certifications. The certifications we support include LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard, Fitwel and/or Net Zero Building Certification. Additionally, you may participate in consulting engagements that provide sustainability strategies for a wide range of world class clients and projects ranging from commercial interiors to ground up buildings and real estate portfolios.
  • Work with clients and design teams to establish sustainable design and project certification goals, employing feasibility analysis or other methods to facilitate goal setting
  • Participate in work sessions with clients and design teams to build consensus on sustainable design solutions
  • Participate in the coordination with project design and consultant teams to provide sustainable design guidance and technical support, and certification process management, participating in client meetings when necessary
  • Coordinate integration of Revit, energy modeling, daylighting and other technical analysis in projects where needed
  • Identify and maintain awareness of current and emerging technologies, tools, and methods as they impact the delivery of green building design
  • Research Federal, State, and local regulations and incentives and provide guidance to clients
  • Ensure sustainable design projects status are integrated into Gensler Digital Library
