The candidate must be a currently enrolled university student with at least 45 credit hours, a minimum GPA of 2.8, and have a background or interest in materials science, geotechnical engineering, geoscience, or a related field. Prior experience in a geotechnical lab and knowledge of planetary science and materials are preferred.

The intern will primarily work with granular materials, analyzing and developing laboratory techniques for subsurface density studies. They will also prepare samples through sieving and assist with any other assigned duties.
